This paper is based on the study of the composer Alban Berg's twelve-tone music and the serial writing style in it. From Berg's five music works, twelve-tone composition has found in the use of some of his usual tactics, trying to work in the serial writing style to show the presentation of the various and flexible technique that Berg does. Through the analysis and comparison on the part of some scores, after use the techniques of modern composition theory (such as AllenĀ·Ford pitch-class set theory, twelve-tone technique in music theory, Hindemith's tonal center theory),try to proof the methods of analysis and classification that the author gives, and find the reasonableness of its existence.The basic layout of the paper is as follows:First, in the introduction, The author introduced the life of Alban Berg and his music works,then discussed the current research on Berg's twelve-tone techniques.In main part of the paper (divided into three chapters), The author used some techniques of modern composition theory to analyze his twelve-tone music. In the first chapter, started with Berg's basic (original) serial design and the characteristics of the the serial in his music,then classified the seria's presentation.The second chapter is based on the methods of the derivative series,which generated from the basic serial,and the derivative series'presentation in the music.The third chapter, under the full recognition of the integrity of the serial music,the author analyzed both horizontal and vertical formation of the series in the music.In the end, the author combined with the historical background, summed up the era of musical language in Berg's age.And from the point of twleve-tone music,the author briefly discussed the significance of contemporary music aesthetic's development in Music Aesthetics.
