In contemporary theater practice, the poetics of space is not only a theatrical manifesto, but also a trend towards the future's theatrical creation. Reviewing along with the history of exploring the theatrical space, I found that there were many landmarks ,such as the Open Door and the Empty Space written by Peter Brook who divides the theatrical landscape into four different types: the Deadly Theater, the Holy Theater, the Rough Theater, and the Immediate Theater, The Theater and Its Double by the French artist and philosopher Antonin Artaud, Towards a Poor Theatre by Jerzy Grotowski, Theory of Alienation-effects by Brecht who was also a practitioner of Epic Theatre, as well as the Theory of Polyphony by Bakhtin. These terms and theories , had set up a logical reactions in the history of space experiment .In fact ,these influence were so large that when we talked about the contemporary theatrical experience we could not separate the body from stage space .These terminologies, in my view, which were known for pushing the boundaries of theatre, would also point to the dimension of infiniteness. The experiment of theatrical space, will continued to provoke, inspire, enrage, enliven, challenge, and goad any theatrical aesthetics. My view began with these theories ,and rooted in the experience of theatrical appreciation ,through analyzing the symbols and features of contemporary theatre especially British theatres, I also firmly believe that our definition of theatrical performance is determined by the imagination of space. this is said that the space exploration ,to some extent, is infinite. In this paper, I expanded discussion with the following three aspects: First, seeking the main frames of theater space and background of spatial expression ; Second, analyzing the current aesthetic form of spatial expression and structure; Third, searching the trends of future theatrical expansion . Among the aesthetic categories of theatrical space, I reference the theorist of narrative Joseph Kestner 's view which has divided the theater space into three terms "the image space, sculptural space and architectural space." My classification, however, is the text space, performance space and symbolic space. Also, in this context, I try to predict the future's trends of theatrical space ,which called cross-border and fusion. Benefited from modern technology such as stage laser technology and virtual imagines, the combination of body and action will go further.
