Zen Quotes Sayings Study

This paper has done researches on the idioms of Chinese Zen books, and focus on the idioms from Tang Dynasties and Song Dynasties Zen books. These idioms include forms on the follow: idiom, proverb, common sanying, phrase, adage and so on.The paper comprises two parts. The first part pays attention to the theoretic studies of Zen books'idioms. The second part is a glossary about the idioms in Zen books.The first part comprises five chapters. The first charper is an induction. It sums up the achievements on the idioms aquirded by the seniors, and illustrates the study meaning and condition in the presnt.The second chapter points out four central origin of the idioms: some come from the ancient classical books of Chinese; some come from Buddhism literature; some come from folk spoken language; some come from Buddhist monks'creation.The third chapter dissertates their vocation's meanings of the idioms in Zen books. The paper indicates: the idioms in Zen books reflect especial cultures of Zen. For the meaning of the idioms in Zen books,we can't understand them only according as routine meanings of them, but should link the thingking of Zen.The fourth chapter expounds the developments and evolvemnts of idioms in Zen books. I have them divided into two parts: one is synchronic differents, the other is diachronic evolvemnts. The former mostly indicates the idioms'differents in Tang dynasty and Song dynasty; the latter points: the developments which has experienced different times, some idioms'form have been changed, some idioms'meaning have been altered, some idioms'structure and sentiment have been transformed. The second part of the paper collects a majority of idioms in Zen books(especial in Tang dynasty and Song dynasty). These idioms can been separated them into idiom, proverb, common sanying, phrase, adage by category. I exert myself to point out their meanings in Zen books and exemplify them by quote passage.
