China and Korea, as neighboring countries, have close relationships since the ancient times. In addition, the culture communication between two countries has a long history as well. With the increasing communicat ion of politics, economics and cultural between China and Korea, people have become interested in their culture and language. The number of exch anging students increases constantly. At the same time, a large amount o f Chinese idioms have penetrated the culture and daily lives of Korean p eople.This paper aims at finding the similarities and differences of Chine se four-character idioms and analyzing the reasons for differences. As t he study object, the Chinese four-character idioms are comparatively ana lyzed from the perspective of morphology and meaning. This paper mainly studies the Chinese four-character idioms from the following aspects. Ch apter one briefly introduces the research purpose and research methods a nd pre-researching. In chapter two, the author describes origin of Chine se and Korean four-character idioms. Based on the investigation of the o rigins of Korean four-character idioms, we can know that the most of the m are borrowed from China and Korean people preserved them well since th em. In chapter three, the animal related four-character idioms are compa ratively studies with the aspects of morphology, meaning and grammatical structures. The author generalizes the similarities and differences of the four-character idioms and summarizes the causes of differences. The content of chapter four is the conclusion about the former chapters.In the process of comprehension and research, the author finds many s imilarities between Chinese and Korean four-character idioms, as well as the differences. Since the incomprehension about the similarities and d ifferences, many students feel confused and apply them in a wrong way wh en they are learning Chinese and Korean. Therefore, the author hope that this paper can help those Chinese students who are learning Korean or K orean students who are learning Chinese comprehend the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean four-character idioms. What’s mor e, people will have a further understanding about Chinese and Korean cul ture and their language through the comparative study of those animal re lated idioms. Due to the limited ability, this paper remains much to imp rove and the author will do further study in the future.
