Vision And Desire

The era of the image has become an indisputable fact. Under the infiltration of the visual mechanisms and the visual culture, the sensory experience of the individual has been unprecedented satisfied. But under the rapid developing of the visual culture, we need to take a break and think about one question:What do we want in the visual experience? Or in short, why we want to see? And what we want to see? This will be a central topic of this paper.Discussion of this issue can not be divorced from the historical background. Photography, film, and computers, the emergence of virtual technology is always changing the content of visual communication, methods and concepts. Behind the development of these technologies itself, it also implies a choice for visual presentation. At the same time, the difference of the visual concept between the Chinese and West tradition also attracts the author. So, in this paper, we will focus on the visual concept, discuss them under the vision of photography, film and virtual technology, to search how the tradition effect the people's understanding of the world and what we are searching for in our life and the results we want to achieve in the end.
