Richard Strauss was a composer with extremely individual style. His art songs were influenced by Shubert, Shuman, Brahms and mainly based on lyricism in his early years. While in his mid-late period time, his style was influenced by Wagner and had the very special characteristics . Richard Strauss was not tied to any kinds of artistic forms. It meant that not only can he inherit the tradition,but also can he develop the innovation. What's more,on the basis of the predecessor's creative work, he created his own style, and has built a bridge between the traditional music and the modern one. He has made the tremendous contribution to the development of music.The four last songs was the most representative work in his later period. He made a very perfect unity between the band and the voice. So this work achieved higher artistic value.This paper is about The four last songs ,and contains the discussions of the composing ,music and the singers' singing skills separately. The whole paper not only focus on the music, singing skills and the comparison of style, but also make some illustrations and analysis about the important points of singing. I hope that this paper could provide some references for the musical educators routine teaching of this music.
