Theo Angelopoulos is a Greek famous director. His films are known for the long take. The understanding of the long takes contains many blind impulse in the Film industry of China and the whole world,. In the eyes of many filmmakers, A long take is just a shot which lasts much longer than the conventional shot.As a result, many artists competing for the running time of a single shot, especially in the advent of computer synthesis technology, this trend is become extreme. However, if we examine the long-shot of Theo Angelopoulos's films will find that his long-shot scenes contain a wealth of mise-en-scene techniques. In such circumstances, the careful study of his films can play the role of overkill. This paper prepared four aspects to study Theo Angelopoulos's films.The first chapter discusses the growing experience and ideas Angelopoulos situation. From dictatorship of the right-wing government of Greece to the World War II to the post-war Greek Civil War and class struggle, as an author, his upbringing to become a label with the autobiographical nature project to his work. Meanwhile, within the scope of the 20th century social movements, ideological trends and the development of modern cinema are all had a huge impact to him. The first part of this paper will explore how Theo Angelopoulos's film is to gradually shift from the ultra-leftist political films to human nature and of social problems, which demonstrate the ideological evolution of Theo Angelopoulos.The second chapter, Theo Angelopoulos's film style, which is the focus of this article. It's divided into three parts. The first part pointed out the general notion of the formation of Theo Angelopoulos's film style, the open space concept. all of his film language and style are from this. we can see that he was deeply impacted Antonioni, Renoir, Kenji Mizoguchi and Dreyer. The second part focuses on the long take style of Theo Angelopoulos. depth study needs to be done for Long take as the most important style of Theo Angelopoulos. Article discusses the start of each period, all regions of the long takes of different styles, compare their difference, points out the relation between Theo Angelopoulos the others. Next, the specific study of the Theo Angelopoulos's long take in the camera movement, camera lens and style change in the situation. The third part is the scene of Theo Angelopoulos mise-enscene features, Theo Angelopoulos's mise-enscene and his opening space concept and the use of the long takes are closely linked. First, I discussed the whole scene of his mise-enscene is a classic, deep-style style, different from the plane mise-enscene wave the 60's. Next, I specified that Angelopoulos in the environment, characters and costumes and other elements of the approach. It can be seen, Theo Angelopoulos pay a great attention to the environment, the environment occupies a key position in his film, the characters belong to the environment and become part of the environment. He is a new realism successor and a Kenji Mizoguchi advocate.Overall, Theo Angelopoulos is a film master, and his film is not Eisenstein, Wells or Godard things that set a precedent, but he is a senior director of the excellent results of the eclectic exploration. In his films, you can also see the overall style of modern film development. has some significance for us to research the advanced features of the modern films and to promote the development of Chinese films.
