Hao Jing, who lived in late-Ming dynasty and wrote a lot, was a famous Confucian scholar and ideologist. Shiji Yu An and Insignificant Criticism of Shiji are his works about Shiji. When most of the scholars in Ming dynasty were focused on the criticism of Shiji, his works seemed special. He was not only good at commentating, but also creative and skillful at textual criticism. The paper is going to study on the two books of Hao Jing and try to understand what information the books contained and how it was delivered, so that we can analysis the advantages and shortages of his study.Hao Jing's ideological features, especially the research methods and judgment standard of Shiji, are shaped by his family academic context, experience, career, friendship, and the background of time. As a result, we are going to learn about his family and experience first to make a brief introduction of his study, friendship and character traits, so that we can really get close to his study on Shiji.Then, we are going to take a discussion on his textual criticisms and commentaries of Shiji based on the former description on his way of research and ideal of study. Hao Jing worked pretty hard on the interpretation of words, the discussion of historical facts and the analysis of what the book draws on. On the other hand, he made creative commentaries on the characters events in Shiji as well as Sima Qian's styles and skills. We are going to use some examples, analyze and discuss the feature of Hao Jing's Shiji study based on his personal experiences and ideological characteristics in order to summarize his work on Shiji and make some commitments on his contribution in related field. After that, we can make a resurvey and relocation about Hao Jing's Shiji study, discovering not only its merits but also weaknesses. Thus, we can treat textual criticisms in late-Ming and early-Qing dynasties correctly and recognize the inspirations for scholars in Qing-dynasty given by people in late-Ming dynasty. Also, we hope to get the works known better for they are not widespread throughout all these years.
