The pronunciation of Tang Dynasty occupies an important position in the Chinese Phonetics development history.So far, the predecessors have used poetries as literature materials to handle the pronunciation of this period and has been achieved great advances.In the choice of materials, however, previous studies are more concentrated in the Tang Dynasty poetry, verse less involved, especially epitaph verse.Epitaph verse are less tampered with by the descendants and easy-to-definited the ages and sites,which make them have a high value of Phonology. Guanzhong Region, the location of the Tang Dynasty capital of Chang'an, was the political, economic and cultural center during the Tang Dynasty. There have been considerable quantity of newly-unearthed epitaph met the public continuously since the Founding.In order to bring these materials into full play and make a breakthrough in the choice of literature materials, in this paper, through Uniting, statistically classifying and comparing the poem rhymes with that of Guyun(广韵),a preliminary organize and explore of verse rhymes situation of the epitaph in Tang Dynasty which were new unearthed around Guanzhong Region in recent years is made.As the "Guanzhong" refers to a geographical concept generally, the first step of this paper is study of its specific geographic meaning.According to the investigation, the relevant regions should include Xi'an, Baoji, Xianyang, Weinan, Tongchuan City and its counties.In the limit of the above-mentioned area, the newly-unearthed Tang Dynasty epitaph of Epitaph Compilation of the Tang Dynasty Sequel, composed by Zhou Shaoliang, Epitaph of Xianyang and Epitaph of Huxian Co unty, both composed by Office of Shaanxi Ancient Books,and Beilin Bulletin, composed by The Forest of Stone Tablets Museum were picked out as study objects,the wear-away ones were not included.A total of 469 inscriptions,1249 rhymes sections.On the base of comprehensive collection of newly-unearthed Tang Dynasty inscriptions, judge the rhyme according to the standard rhyme-using examples. The ownership of a rhyme based on Guangyun(广韵),if necessary, consult Jiyun(集韵),also refer to Ancient Chinese Phonetics Manual(汉字古音手册)by Mr. Guo Xiliang. According to the statistics, the rhymes of Shaanxi Guanzhong Region epitaph in Tang Dynasty can be classified to 27 categories, the actual rhyme-using are substantial the same with,but have been some breakthrough at,regulations of single using and simultaneous using of Guanyun(广韵),and are similar to the subsequent 16 she(摄).On the whole, rhymes are wider, which represents the impact of civilian areas system in Tang Dynasty to rhyme-using in Shaanxi.
