"The Trend of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster " refers to the production and consumption trends of blockbuster in the early twenty-first century which were created by directors from the mainland and targeted to overseas markets with massive investment, massive cost, massive promotion and market. It is commonly characterized by Chinese Ancient Spectacles, Aesthetic of Sensuous, and Chivalry Culture.This paper considers that"The Trend of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster"is the culture phenomenon which is directly catalyzed by contemporary consumerism. The research and analysis of"The Trend of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster"should be put into the consummerism culture and Cultural and Historical Context. Only investigating the development and history trait of"The Trend of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster"from theory perspective of Consumer Culture, the cultural intension and Aesthetic Syndrome of"The Trend of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster"can be profoundly illustrated.In addition, although financed from different places from 2007, the majority of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster are directed by Hong-Kong's directors, which leaded to an obvious transition of Chinese Ancient Costume Blockbuster in both the narrative and aesthetic level. Meanwhile, the"the trend of Ancient Costume Blockbuster"in Chinese film gradually faded away in a large volume of criticism. However, this change also provide a possibility for comparing and contrast.Based on this, the first part of this research summarizes the symbolic value of objects and aestheticization of everyday in consumer culture, points out the its elationship with"the trend of Ancient Costume Blockbuster", and in further, summarizes the Formation and Development of"the trend of Ancient Costume Blockbuster"and its characteristics and contents.The second part of this research analyzes the texts in this cultural phenomenon"the trend of Ancient Costume Blockbuster", and different kinds of consumeristic Aesthetic Syndrome in the creators and recipients of those texts, which specifically include Film Image Style featured by Spectacular Vision effects and Oriental Signs of Postmodern, Narrative Strategy featured by False historicism and de-realization, Aesthetic Idea centered on Violent Beauty and Will of Power, suspended Subjectivity Consciousness, and Crisis of Getting the Audience's Credit.Then, the third part of this paper carries out a Longitudinal Comparative Study on the creation, text and reception between"Hong Kong-made"and"Mainland-made"Ancient Costume Blockbusters, and tries to find the transition in the extension and intension of Ancient Costume Blockbusters after 2006, and the obvious consumer culture problems in"Hong Kong-made"Ancient Costume Blockbusters.Lastly, based on the above researches and analyses, this paper briefly discusses how the consumer culture promoted and influenced the Chinese film industry, and reflects on the enlightenment of various industry brought by the"trend of Ancient Costume Blockbuster".
