"Century Review" was founded by Ho Lian and Zhang Chunming in Nanjing on January 4th,1947, ceased publication on November 13, It provided a platform for lots of liberal intellectuals to express their in-depth discussion on the prevailing political and economical issues, especially on the civil war, the middle line and the Gold Yuan reformation."Whither for China"after the victory of Sino-Japanese War became a major topic for most of Chinese citizens and on which a large group of liberal intellectuals Proposed their blue-points with political sensibility and realistic consideration contingent on their knowledge quality. All these ideas resulted visionary hopes due to lack of military forces for these liberals. They opposed war, desired peace,but the National Government launched a civil war. They were longing for democracy and the the civil rights but the National Government set up a arbitrary and trampled the democracy. They hope economical democracy and reformation for a reasonable configuration of economic resources, but the KMT t overissued the soft money to raise military spending and launched a brutal squeeze on people through the Gold Yuan reformation. And gradually they realized that there was no mid way to go between the KMT and the CCP with situation changes and then finally abandoned the"middle-way"standpoint and gradually join the New china construction led by CCP.
