To provide moral educational practice with practical and effectual guidance is the essential purpose of the discussion of moral educational theory, whereas the correct establishment of moral educational aim is the most essential, complicated and disagreed problem in the discussion of moral educational theory. This thesis attempts to advance a new viewpoint concerning the essential purpose of moral education, namely, the molding of the ideal moral personality. The molding of an ideal moral personality is regarded as the basic object of moral teaching, because we need to make a response to the moral crisis in China. Moreover, the history of man's development is, to some extent, just the history of continuous pursuit and molding of an ideal personality. Furthermore, the sole and essential purpose of moral education is the successful molding of ideal moral personality as it is precisely in moral quality and action are its downright representation; and as moral personality is a somewhat motive force, and will definitely display its moral attribute constantly in practice. or society and or the individual are the object of moral teaching and the main characteristic of perfect moral personality. It is wrong to lay particular stress on society or the individual. 1-low to unit or society with or the individual is a problem that draws our close attention. Undoubtedly, this combination needs something that at once satisfies the real need of society and is accepted psychologically by the individual. The core theory of market economy is ompetence standard under the circumstance of market economy, the existence and development of both society and the individual are facing competition and challenge. Competition and challenge never believe in that the tears of the weak, they nonetheless repay the capable favorably. The ability of keeping forgoing ahead and developing individual competence courageously is indispensable for both society and the individual. We, therefore, cannot but seek the setting up of the enterprising moral sense that pays attention to the development of ability. In addition, we take the developing condition of one's ability as a yardstick to measure whether he is moral or not. Owing to over two thousand years of Confucianism worship, Confucianism culture still, so this dissertation mainly probes into Confucianism emphasizes but not universalistic ethical spirit. It shows intense solicitude for the confirmation and realization of the moral goal on the highest level at the same time neglects that of the lowest level. It leads to the structural shortcomings of moral educational purpose and dual personality orientation oV the people, and further, the denial of personal rights. In the contemporary era, the moral teaching in China seeks loftiness and holiness excessively, overlooking relatively the realization of ethical teaching goal on the fundamental level. It does not suit man's actuality, nor does it suit the real logic of the development of morality on its own, which brings about weak practical effects and has as a consequence that moral education cannot occupy the position it shOuld be in the heart of students who receive education. Hence our moral education must, above all, aim at the individual's undertaking their responsibility, and then guide them to more awareness of ethics.
