The paper can make us understand and evaluate the special status of Xi'an cityon politics, army, economy army culture in the Ming-Qing Times through research-ing a few problems about Xi'an cities's historical geography. There are seven parts inthe paper.It's very important for the development of Xi'an city to exploit and make gooduse of Long Shou and Tong Ji chennels, so the paper mainly discusses some relevantaspects of the two chennels. On the basis of many historical and modern documentsand books, the paper rectifies many mistakes which were made by some reseachers.At the same time,the paper researches the use of the two chennels im Xi'an citydeeply by some historical documents which noboby notice before.The second part of the paper points out the special status of Xi'an as the politicalcentre in the northwest area by analising a few problems on the princes and dukes'homes.This section discusses the magnificent scale and beautiful surroundings in thehomes.The third section demonstrate the important status of Xi'an city on army in thenorthwest area by researching the Man city and South city during Qing Dynasty.The fouth section researches the teaching orgnizations' prosperousity to provethe important cultural characters of Xi'an city in the northwest area.The fifth discusses the distribution and vicissitudes of government offices in thexi'an city during the Ming-Qing Times.The Sixth reseaches the markets and merchants offices' distribution and vicissi-tudes.The seventh criticizes the fault viewpoints on the Xi'an city wall's length whichare spreaded widly in the past time and gives the author's view.
