Liaoyang City was the political,economic,cultural center and the military frontier town of Liaodong region and northeast part for a long time in the history.Since called “Xiangping City” in warring states period,after the development of Ming and Qing Dynasties,Liaoyang City had its basic shape and size.Throughout the development of the ancient city,Liaoyang City in Ming dynasty has surpassed the previous dynasties no matter on construction system,or the city function level,especially in the Houjin dynasty.They built Dongjing City on the right bank of Taizi river in the east of Liaoyang,making Liaoyang once became the Nvzhen nationality's action center,and its historical position reached its zenith.However,with the capital moved to Shenyang,the central position of Liaoyang has been replaced.During Qing Dynasty,due to the changing of political and economic situation,Liaoyang was demoted to county,losing its past glory.From this point,the Ming and Qing Dynasties were the important period of developments and changes of Liaoyang city status.Therefore,this article attempts to discuss the the transition of the urban internal space layout of Liaoyang city in Ming and Qing Dynasties from the perspective of urban historical geography,and to explore and summarize the reasons of the development and change of Liaoyang city during this period,then tries to draw the outline of the evolution of the city in Ming and Qing Dynasties.At the same time,it will provide references for today's urban construction.The paper is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction.Here mainly to clarify the reason of the research,research significance,research status and the difficult points.The second part is the first chapter of this article.It discusses the rise and development of Liaoyang city before the Ming dynasty from two aspects.First of all,from the aspects of the natural geographical conditions,it analyzes the geographic location,landscape of hydrology and climate,so that to explore the geographical advantages of the city's development;Then from the aspects of historical evolution,this paper discusses the evolution of Liaoyang city before the Ming dynasty,so that to reveal the historical geography basic of Liaoyang city's development comprehensively.The third part is chapter two of this article.It mainly discusses the Liaoyang city in Ming dynasty.First introduces in the administrative divisions;Then introduces structure and layout of Liaoyang city of the Ming dynasty,including the city's shape and the distribution of functional areas in the city,which also contains the arguments about some aspects of the institution of the city existing in the Ming dynasty At last,it expounds the development of Liaoyang city during this period and the reasons of its development.The fourth part is the third chapter of this paper.It mainly discusses the Liaoyang city in the Qing Dynasty.First introduces the establishment of Liaoyang in the Qing Dynasty;secondly,introduces the structure and layout changes of Liaoyang city during this period from the construction of Dongjing city and Liaoyang city aspect,so that to analyze the change characteristics of Liaoyang city in the Qing Dynasty;Finally,the paper analyzes the reasons of changes in Liaoyang city in Qing Dynasty.The fifth part is the fourth chapter of this article.It mainly discusses the evaluation and thinking about the historical position of Liaoyang city in Ming and Qing Dynasties,and the realistic significance of the protection of the ancient city of Liaoyang.
