Abstract The Chinese localism fiction in the 1920抯 and 1930抯 represents the intellectual抯 awakening and reflection on the tradition and their attachment to the homeland after leaving their kith and Kim. The localism fiction is full of strong consciousness of homeland and embodies the writer抯 strong unrest in the upheaval of the times. The thesis will analyze the homeland complex in the fiction. Part I: The connotation of Homeland Complex. Due the to the a priori existence of 搇oneliness? people抯 pursuit for 揾omeland ?is eternal, therefore the 揾omeland complex is a collective-unconsciousness of all the mankind, Because of the strong consciousness of native soil grown from the traditional society, the Chinese, people all have a 搉ative soil complex ? The 揾omeland complex?has close relationship with the 搉ative soil complex ? But the two cannot be equaled. From the viewpoint of the physical native soil, 揾omeland complex ?and 搉ative soil complex 搈ean the one and same thing, yet 揾omeland complex? has metaphysical characteristics and reflects People抯 longing to return to spiritual homeland and pursuit for freedom. Part II: The melancholy and anxiety caused by the loss of paradise. The part deals with the works of Lu Xun and other 3 writers of localism fiction school and left-wring localism fiction school and the writers of Northeastern China and analyzes the causes of their mental suffering. Lu Xun broke with the feudal culture by castigating the corrupt customs in his homeland. The localism writers were at a loss for roads to go after their awakening. The left-wing writers were forced to leave their homeland to make a living, but this only landed them in the situation of leading a wandering and helpless life. The?homeland became the embodiment of warmth and loves to the Northeastern China writers who had been banished form their homeland. The forms may be different, but the melancholiness and anxiety resulting form the loss of Paradise is the same. Part LII: The Utopia of Paradise Regained. The localism fiction represented by the works of Fei Ming and Shen Congwen was the outcome of the writers?unidentification with the urban civilization and expressed apparent affinity to the patriarchal society which was traditional or even primitive, but full of hormonal human relationship and good human nature. The affinity is in fact the tradition in another from. Confronted with the ugly urban civilization them took refuge in the traditional culture and tried to build 揳 haven of peace ?to counterpoise the urban civilization and save their homeless soul in this way. 4 Part IV: Eternal longing (conclusion). Aalhoagh the modern in tellectuals have a bounded relationship with the native land, the native land have no ability to burden their rich and heavy spirit search. In their spirit search, the native land is more a post than their spirit destination. As long as the anxiety from living exists, the homeland complex is an eternal temptation to mankind and looking for the spiritual homeland is destined to run through the whole history of mankind.
