Water resource in Guanzhong is lacked. It conflnes the speed ofeconomy development of Guanzhong. But in the historical period especially in theTang Dynasty, water resource was very rich in Guanzhong region. Precipitation wasvery big. Many rivers, lakes, springs and marshes were full of water. This papermainly studies the change of water resource in lakes and marshes from rich to poorand probes into the causes and patterns of the change in order to offet reference forGuanzhong region to find new water resource. This paper consists of five sections.The first section presents the general situation of lakes and marshes inGuanzhong region before the Qin Dynasty.The second section discusses the great development of lakes and marshes inGuanzhong during the period from the Qin Dynasty to the Northem Dynasties.The third section discusses the lakes and marshes prosperity and their tendencyto bury in oblivion in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.The fourth section discusses the lakes and marshes buried into oblivion on alarge scale after the end of the Tang Dynasty.The last section analyzes the harm and the causes of this kind of change and offerfour measures to resume the superior water environment with a lot of lakes andmarshes in the historical period.
