A Discussion On The History And Geography Of Xuzhou City

Xu zhou is one of the famous historical culture cities in China.but its formation, development and evolution is different from other cities.So the thesis studies on the historical geography of Xuzhou city from four as-pects: the environmental backgrounds, the development history and the lay-out of the city, limiting factors and the developing prospects.The thesis is composed of four parts : The first part researches systimat-ically on the environmental backgrounds and its development from naturaland human aspects.The second part, which is the main body of the thesis, infers and ex-pounds the scale of Xuzhou city in history according to historical documentsand archaeological materials. Then it restores and deduces the layout of thecity in the Han Dynasty and the Ming - Qing period. The third part analyses the limiting factors of the development ofXuzhou city from the point of topography, politics, economic and transportconditions. The last part sums up the superior conditions of Xuzhou and putsforward some suggestions in the development of Xuzhou city.
