AbstractBased on historical records, encyclopaedia works, stone and tomb tablets, the article collected the clause of lost works on the genealogical tree (Abbr.GT) in Han, Wei ,Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties and made the textual critism on them. The development, form, content, record and spread of GT were discussed and the influence on the society during this time and the history from Han to Tang dynasty were talked over.The Han,Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern periods stood an important stage during the development of GT history. With the evolution of the family system from the old and great family to the family of power and influence, the complilation of GT became the authority advocation from the pure personal behavior. And also GT played an important pole directly or indirectly in official selection, social contact and family marriage and so on.Compared with GT in the Ming and Qing, GT in Han, Wei. Jin, Southern and Northern time had possessed the basic structure, but hadn expanded so well. And this phenomenon is embodied by the complication of GT in chart style and the incompletness in Titten style according to the present archaeological and historical documents.As ineage historvGT mainly talked about the certain family, which limited its value.lts record and spread also reflected this. However, GT unique historical value was still cherished by the historians. And it had a great influence on the complation and commentary of history from Han to Tang dynasty.
