Instinctive observation is an ambiguious term frequently mentioned nowadays. In the field of fine-arts, instinctive observation firstly refers to a method of observing, which means to abandon those which are taken for granted and to study and understand the objection by newly inner experience.From the beginning of culture to the climate period of fine-arts, instinctive observation experienced a thousand of years. And the reappearance of instinctive observation has been the pursuit of generation of artists. The essence of instinctive observation in more sense is a kind of visual psychology. The study on visual psychology reveals that absolutely instinctive observation can not be reached, the result of which leads the artists a direction of endlessness. Those past artists had left us many classical articles about the pursuit of the reappearing nature. Until the nineteenth century, the impressionist declared that they had mastered the skills of reappearing nature. But in fact, this kind of reappearance is only a relative sense of instinctive observation.When a problem is solved and another question is raised presently, the history of fine-arts is just like this. The reappearance of instinctive observation had been the goal of fine-arts in western countries. When this goal was thought to be reached, the following artists did not know where to go. Therefore, at that time this traditional connection of instinctive observation broke off.On the twentieth century, with the great development of the humanities, people have a wide and deep perception to themselves^ human nature > spirit and the society. With the passing of modernism and the approaching of postmodernism, people have realized that instinctive observation is just like an endless stream, which not only provides the nurition of concrete fine-arts,but also is the origin of abstract fine-arts. With the years passing by, the understanding of instinctive observation is developing and its contents has new meaning. Many artists go back the field of instinctive observation to realize their ideals of art.When people know too little, they can not master the skills to express nature; when they know too much, it is also hard for them to choose which kind of skill they would use. The reappearance of instinctive observation and facing inner world maybe a way out of fine-arts.
