The Application Of Animation In The Restoration Of Chinese Traditional Crafts —The Virtual Reappearance Of Bank Kiln

Chinese tangible or intangible cultural heritage had played an important role in every field of the cultural innovation, artistic originality, and technological innovation, etc. The protection of cultural heritage was not only necessary to the understanding of history, but also to the creation of new technologies, new crafts and new art forms. The Chinese bank kiln, which was one of the most important ceramic technology in history, however, had become atrophied in modern life. Thus, we should take the responsibility to protect and inherit this kind of traditional technology so as to protect our cultural heritage.In this article, the virtual reappearance of the Qianjin Kiln, one of the national key cultural relics protection sites in Yixing City, was chose as the subject, which was based on the research of the ceramic culture heritage of Yixing City. Meanwhile, the 3D model of the Qianjin Kiln was put as the information carrier. And also the research of expression ways of multimedia and data integrity would help to achieve to gain the reproduced virtual and original information of the Qianjin Kiln, so as to reach the targets of information locating, labeling, recording, and querying and also the statistic analysis. By means of multimedia demonstration of the Qianjin Kiln’s design principles, structure characteristics, construction materials, etc., it would accomplish a thorough analysis of the technical characteristics of bank kiln, and would provide data support for the repair scheme of the Qianjin Kiln.Through the exploration and attempt of achieving the virtual recovery and reappearance technology of the Qianjin Kiln, and also with the efforts of combining the digital virtual reproduction technology with the protection means of the existing Chinese traditional crafts, we would develop and enrich the variety of methods for Chinese traditional craft protection and inheritance, and would increase the efficiency while raising the level of the protection and inheritance. New measures would be provided for the protection and inheritance of traditional craft, and a strong support be given to the study and understanding of traditional crafts.
