This paper introduces the racial conflict of history and the breakout and developments of violent racial conflicts during 1964-1968 in American cities. It traces the related conditioning factors which led to the violent racial conflicts of 1964-1968 and highlights their characteristics, nature and impact.The paper begins with a brief introduction, describing the basic content and the significance of studying the violent racial conflicts of 1964-1965, introducing the historical studies in Chinese and American academic communities, and outlining the framework, methodology and the structure of the thesis. The main body includes five parts.Part I introduces the racial conflicts in American history and the breakout and development of violent racial conflicts during 1964-1968. It discusses their the nature and characteristics.Part II introduces the black migration and the formation of black ghetto, the transformation and declining of the cities ,the poverty and the structure of black families.Part HI analyzes the division of black civil-rights movement, the formation and development of black nationalism, the conflict between black and white merchants.Part IV discusses the effect of civil rights law of 1964, the forms and effect of ethnic discrimination, the conflict between black and white policeman.The Last part summarizes the effect of reports by mass media.The Conclusion summarizes this paper and discusses the effect of violent racial conflict in 1964-1968.
