Style is the symbol of the transformation of the liferature tradition and the movement of the society,also of wrters'character and existence.Studying Liao Zhai Zhi Yi from the view of style and its history is one of the most important aspects of the research work.Charpter I represents some underlying text theories and the classification of classical Chinese stories.Style as the existence of literature texts indicates the tranfer of the tradition and shows th change of society indirectly.Rreaseaches of style are just helpful to disclose the process of culture'stranformation.The idea of style has been so ambuguious that novels were difficult to be classified.By defining the idea of style,this dissertation classifies these novels into two kinds梤omance and jottings.Charpter II analys as the style of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi profoundly in two parts.The first part classified the texts of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi into your kinds :romancejotting novel,sommon prose and jotting prose, and discued them in detail.In this part,the significance of studying from the view of typolgy is showed.The second part focuses on all the text types of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi ,such as poems,ci song,paralled proses,couplts,riddles,drinkers' wager games.Also the heritage and learning from Shi zhuan and vernacular novel in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi is discussed here.Chapter III sums up the character of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi as "synthesis of various styles',Pu Song Ling ,the writer of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi ,was not only an excelent novelist,but also an outstanding stylist.Those various texts in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi stand for the character of Synthesis of various styles which is a tradition in the history of Chinese novels, Liao Zhai Zhi Yi handed over this perfection and made itself so atractive.
