Archetypal Criticism, Analysis And Prototype Category Theory

The relation of Myth criticism and Archetypal criticism, furthermore, psychological archetype and literature archetype is all along the important things for us to study this sect. Because there are many ambiguous understandings and confused application to these concepts, it makes readers perplexed when reading these books. The task for the current critical circles is to analyze, understand and use these concepts rationally. It is based on this reason that I research from this theme in this article. The important content of this article is followed:Firstly ---- the relation of Myth Criticism and Archetypal Criticism.Many scholars believe that these two criticisms have the same meaning only with different names. But I don't think so when I differentiate and analyze these two criticisms. In the first chapter of this article, I clarify the respective research core of these two criticisms. According to the summary conclusion of the literature and art theories in The Mirror and the Lamp. whose writer is M- H- Abrams. I think that Myth Criticism is mainly an extrinsic literature research, and Archetypal Criticism is an intrinsic literature research. The essential difference with these two criticisms is that they research literature from distinct perspective.Secondly ----- different understandings to the keyword - "archetype".Although archetype is an important frequently used - word in Rung's woks as well as in Frye's woks, it has not the same meaning. Because Rung and Frye go in for their research in separate domain and they use archetype in different rank. The word archetype has distinct subject characteristic in Rung's works and Frye' s works. But the following scholars usually don't set apart these two different meanings before they use archetype, it makes us difficult to understand the theory of Archetypal Criticism. In the secondchapter, I suggest that we should put forward "psychological archetype" and "literature archetype" clearly and I expound the detailed connotation of psychological archetype and literature archetype.I begin to study Archetypal Criticism because of my own interest, but many difficult things occur in reading .In this article 1 expound the simple understanding to some important questions about Archetypal Criticism and expect to make improvement in following research with the beneficial help from so many teachers.
