The position of adjectives as verb modifiers is mainly governed by the following rules : (1)under the principle of temporal sequence proximity , the adjective denoting aim is usually pre-positioned and denoting result post-positioned in accordance with subjective temporal sequence . and the adjective denoting post-occurrence is usually post-positioned in accordance with objective temporal sequence . (2)under the principle of "goals" are always post-positioned after "referents", the adjective denoting " goal " / " referent " is always post/pre-positioned. (3) under the "plate" principle , the adjective which can' t make a common plate with the modified verb is usually pre-positioned when an objective is following the verb.
