An-shi Rebellion is the transitional period in the evolution of Tang poetry as well as the turning point of Tang Dynasty. This article studies the poetic style in this period, including the theme choosing and style changing. As to the poetic theme, the author considers the most obvious change is the poets draw their attention from individual's success and failure to the future and fate of the nation and the people. Meanwhile, the wandering life and the contradiction of contributing to the nation and being turned town lead to the poets' sense of losing home, and thus, the poems show the thought of renouncing the aroid, which is quite different from the theme of the poems before the Rebellion. As to the style and emotional appeal, the author considers the poems in this period are lack of the character of these in Sheng Tang (the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty), which have the optimistic and high-spirited emotion, and the vigorous and clear style. They form a connecting link- between the poems before and after the Rebellion. Their emotional appeal is indignation, depression and loneliness to show the character of forlornness and desolation. Besides, this article disagrees to the idea that Du Fu forms his poetic style in the ten years when he lives in Chang'an, and further points out it should be in the period of the Rebellion. And this article also discussed the change of the poetic style of Li Bai and Wang Wei.
