On The Tang Dynasty Poet Li Qi

This thesis makes an overall inquiry into the idea and the creative achievement of Li qi who is a poet in the heyday of Tang Dynasty.In the first place, this thesis considers that Li qi has wide cultural field of vision and his poems have various kinds of themes. His poems about music and friends get high achievement and have originality. At the same time, these poems possess high cultural and historical value. Moreover, his poems can offer a reference to the research of the culture in Tang Dynasty.The second part will discuss the Li qi's poems about frontier region. As known to all, he was always considered one of the important representatives who created a lot of poems about frontier. But we don't know much about the matter whether he joined the army or went to the frontier region. From the present material and his own relation, I think he never joined the army, but maybe he went to the frontier fortress on business. On account of excluding force and lacking the ideal that does a deed of merit in the border area, his poems are short of heroism color. On the contrary, these poems exposed and pondered deeply over the war. The style of his poems is tragic and touching.The third part will discuss Li qi's seven-word poems that were praised by critics. In this section, compared with the other poets such as Wang wei, Gao shi and Cen sen, I draw a conclusion that Li qi's poems have his own originality.Finally, this thesis thinks that Li qi obtain great accomplishment on the literary history. Therefore, it is oversimplify to consider Li qi is a poet who just created poems about border area.
