In the past studies on Yu Xin,scholars tended to take him as a changeless whole,or quoted from the opinions that had already existed. They ignored the point that Yu Xin's works were created in different periods .The article analyzes three periods of Yu Xin's official life in the North,in order to reflect the changes of his mind and comment on him and his works completely. The first period is about the first three years (A.D.554-557) when Yu Xin served the North government. Then the poet indulged himself in the sadness as an envoy without homeland. The second period is when the Emperor Ming was in power (A.D.557-560). Yu Xin began to change his mind and accepted the fact that he had to live in the North forever. The third period is during the years of Jian-de when Yu Xin considered Dynasty Bei Zhou as his own government. In his poems he expressed the idea to serve Dynasty Bei Zhou wholeheartedly. Through the analysis, the conclusion is that Yu Xin mourned his homeland of Dynasty Liang painfully,at the same time wished to serve Dynasty Bei Zhou sincerely. The different periods should be treated respectively. Finally, the article discusses the disillusionment with south culture in Yu Xin's works by analyzing Yu Xin's allusion to A New Account of Tales of the World. The disillusionment is one reason that makes Yu Xin change his mind.
