This paper discusses on the verse in one of the best classical novels Shuihu that are ignored by most scholars and readers at present Giving some new aspects for the research of the Shuihu is the most important purpose of this paper.First, it looks back on the cultural resources of the verse in the classical literature.The verse of Sui Hu has many sources because of its special process of writing. Most of them come from Huaben and some literary writers, the other editions about Shuihu are one indispensable source too. So the skill of the idea and the art are different in the same book in some degree.The first chapter is the basic part of this paper. Giving an intact statistical data about all kinds of verse in Shuihu, it tries to give an overall and objective study through the following two aspects content and function.The second chapter is the core of this paper undoubtedly.Chu Chang Shi is a summary denomination for the distinguishing feature in the verse when a main character appearing first in novel, which can solve some problems for researcher on Suihu nowadays.Through the discussion on the Chu chang shi, it further points out that the stories of Linchong and Luzhishen are added to by other authors after the original edition.The chuchangshi of Wusong and some other details in verse prove that the famous story which Wusong kill a tiger alone arise later.The same foreseeable word by a monk reveals that the first one copy the latter in order to connect the new and old stories of Luzhishen.Through another editions verse, it also further point out that deleting verse is a superficial phenomenon, on the contrary, it implys the changes towards modern concept of novels.
