In the introduction, the development, definition and types of prospective memory, difference between prospective memory and retrospective memory, the factors that influence a subject's performance in prospective memory tasks, research methods, important research, and the importance of prospective memory research are introduced. Experimental studies include three experiments. The performance of children in three different prospective memory tasks, the effects of age and the influence of the external cues and the number of current tasks are studied in these three experiments. The findings are as follows: Children's performance in activity-based prospective memory task is the best, while that in time-based prospective memory task is the worst. There is a significant improvement during the period when a child upgrades from the middle class to the top class in a kindergarten. After this period, the child's prospective memory remains unchanged until the second grade in a primary school. The increase of the number of current tasks, when a prospective response is to be made, will reduce the possibility of a child to perform successfully.
