Chi K'ang (嵇康) has been an upsurge in research all along. The academic circles lay particular emphasis on studying his literature, music, philosophy, etc. But few scholars study him in Taoist belief. This thesis thinks Chi K'ang in the history should been a complicated body cementing with a writer, a thinker, an artist, and a Taoist follower. So overlooking the fact of his Taoist follower's identity is not perfect in going deep into study the complex minds and diversified life of Chi K'ang. By analyzing the religious beliefs of Chi K'ang, this thesis tries to study the Taoist influence on Chi K'ang's style of life, spiritual outlook, political ideas, ethical ideas, and literature creation. This thesis hopes itself can explain Chi K'ang more perfect from a new view. It is divided into three parts:Part I About the relation with Chi K'ang and Taoism.By studying Chi K'ang's biography and other people's appraisal to him, it is concluded that Chi K'ang was a Taoist follower in fact.Part II About Chi K'ang's Taoist ideas.Chi K'ang not only believed in the existence of supernatural beings, but also built a system of ideas in preserving good health, which come from Taoist ideas of keeping both body and spirit in well straightly.Part III About other parts of Chi K'ang influenced by Taoist ideas.In these aspects including political ideas, ethical ideas, and outlook on life, literature creations, and the thesis researches into what influences did Taoist ideas make to Chi K'ang. |
