Xiang Dialect Known Chapters Group Now Read The Study

In this thesis the author tries to find out the pronunciations of zhi and zhang groups in seven accents of xiang-dialect, statistisize the pronunciations percentage, which can show different historical developing periods, conclude the phonological divergent conditions of zhi and zhang groups. At the same time, the author also find the two groups change at the same speed;but they develope out of balance by comparing the amount of pronunciations which show different historical periods between the old xiang dialect and new xiang dialect, What's more, there are obvious distinctions in the old xiang dialect or new xiang dialect.E.g in new xiang dialect Tao Jiang accent and Heng shan accent and old xiang dialect Lou Di Shuang Feng Shao Dong accent.. The quite amount of zhi and zhang groups (except shu initial)still pronounce explosive; On the contrary ,in new xiang dialect Changsha accent and old xiang dialect Dong Kou accent, they all pronounce affricate or fricative. So we can find out the difference of linguistic distance of every accent, by comparison with the area difference . They pronounce explosive, which is the remaining forms in archaic Chinese. It could provide dialect data to prove their same original from explosive and help historical Linguistic to reconstruct the archaic sound of the two groups initial and their developing process.By conjuring the linguistic distance of different accent and measuring the difference, we can find out the character of modern xiang dialect, which diverge from the common Chinese in ancient time, but it has been effected by prestige accent-mandarin, especially in big cities. So in modern xiang dialect there are extreme difference. This difference between new and old xiang dialect can give us enough information to anticipate its fate. On the other hand, if we want to divide this dialect into different sub-dialects vernacular. It is very necessary to discuss its remaining archaic ancient and modem phonological character.
