1990s Chinese "culture" Of The Rise Of The Status Quo And Prospects

Since 1960s,"Cultural Studies" has become the social cultural current of thought predominating the western academia. Entering 1990s, the realistic cultural soil of Chinese social transformation calls native "Cultural Studies". The paper is the inquiry to the cause, status quo and the foreground of the Chinese native "Cultural Studies". The paper is divided into four parts besides the introduction.The introduction is to clarify the definition of "Cultural Studies", so that we can rectify the confused cognition to the concept of the academia.The first part looks back the rising context and theoretical origin of the western "Cultural Studies". It points out that social transformation and popular culture are the realistic context of making the western (England) "Cultural Studies", and there are some original relations between culturism tradition and the movement of "the New Left" in England.The second part analyses the historical motivation of the rise of Chinese "Cultural Studies" in the 1990s from the social cultural transformation and the rise of popular culture, market economy and technological revolution, the cultural turn of the literature and art, and so on. It points out that the rise of Chinese "Cultural Studies" has the realistic inevitability.The third part puts emphasis on analyzing the status quo and the existing main problem of Chinese "Cultural Studies". Since the 1990s, a series of results of study have been gained in Chinese "Cultural Studies", and the field of discussion have been developed, such as "the relationship between CulturalStudies and literature studies", "popular culture and medias", "field study and case study", "postmodernism and postcolonialism" and "the wide discussion of research", and etc. On the basis of this, we further analyse some problems, such as the identity of the researchers is simple, the researchers give more concerns about western theories than that of China, theoretical innovations is not sufficient, the value in the aspect of academia is not obvious, and etc.The last part studies the modern meaning and theoretical foreground from the important consulting value and methodology of the turn of the current literature and art studies of "Cultural Studies".
