Tao Wei Similarities And Differences Theory

There were many scholars who thought the great poet Tao Yuanming of the JinDynasty had affected the poet of the Tang Dynasty Wei Yingwu somewhat becausethere were some inner relations between their poems.They not only affirmed Wei hadinherited something from Tao,but affirmed the artistic value and the historical statusof Wei's poems as well.However,most of the hoary scholars just talked about theirfeelings.They hadn't thought deeply about their comparison.In my dissertation,!tried to clarify their similar aspects, different aspects and the reasons of that.This dissertation includes four parts.In the first part,I compared several poets of the Tang Dynasty who were thoughtsimilar to Tao Yuanming with Tao and found that they were actually different fromTao.In the second part,I analyzed their characters from four aspects and found they wereboth honest,frank and they could always take things as they came.These four aspectsare that they both disliked the officialdom,they both loved the nature,they both lovedtheir friends and they wouldn't conceal their feelings.Besides,they used same wordsin their poems and they had the similar family background.In the third part,I clarified that there were still some differences between them.Thesedifferences include their living conditions,their attitudes toward the society,their ideasabout worldly affairs and seclusion and their thoughts about life.In the fourth part,I discussed the reason why they were still different from their socialbackground and their personalities.
