Tender-hearted Description Of Northeast China

Guo Dasen is one of the most important contemporary children's literature writers. His works are popular with children very much. In the past fifty years which grew with new China, Guo kept writing on and published lots of works. His works got many Children's Literature prizes and were selected in The Great Anthology of Chinese Children's Literature. Guo's works are well-known because of their local colors. However, critics didn't pay enough emphasis on his works. So far, few systemic studies had been done on them. Therefore, the thesis will study from regional perspective, take children's fairy tales as object of study and elaborate the subject, content, artistic method and thought of Guo's fairy tales.Guo's works mainly cover four themes, which are the mainstream culture, cultivating a new generation of "Northeast people", the simple awareness of ecology and the local consciousness, to express his insistence on the value of the "Northeast culture"; he displays a colorful fairy-tale realm to us using the adventure-based linear structure and omniscient narrative perspective, based on the model of the "good" children's story; by means of art such as Andersen-style description of the scenery, romantic imagination based on reality, the organic integration of intellectual and artistic, famer's tender-hearted humor, and so on, he portrays Northeast China poetically and romantically. For these reasons, Guo Dasen has showed a totally different artistic world in his children's fairy tales.
