Tillich's Ultimate Concern Concept

In realistic life, people demand is various.A person not only need material concern, but also still need spiritual concern.Ultimate concern t is one of the important content of spiritual concern. The ultimate concern is a problem that each person must consider and can't get around from. Sciencific Knowledge about this problem is beneficial for people to adjust themselves with program. It will help people pass their time calmly, quietly and actively. At the same time, It will have positive meaning for the building of ultimate value target and coordinative development between materal civilization and spiritual civilization.Thoughts of ultimate concerned develop through whole process of human history Different time and physical life condition conceive different thoughts. According to Marxism principle I evaluate his standpoint,and I say my some views about some problems .Tillich thinks so-called ultimate concern means mankind pursues and looks forward to infinite, eternal, free thing eventually, unconditionally, devoutly and passionately.Non-exsitence threats exsitence,and it brings existence limit.People' savourof limit is anxiety. Tillich thinks that there are three kinds oi anxietyrthe anxiety of death and destiny,the anxiety of emptiness and nonsense.the anxiety of faul and rebuke.These worries are existent, and a person can not get away from them. What' s more, estrangement between existence and innate character brings mankind series of predicaments.The ego is interdependent with the world.Because of estrangment, the person is placed into the state of misbelief .arrogantence and want .People improve themselves highly,and break equilibrium between the ego and the world. This produces the separation of ego and destiny, motive power and form, individual and participation.Mankind can't get away from these anxiety and the predicaments, hence he consign the hope to the power out of himself. God, new exsitence and religion are just the representatives of this kind of power. So they become people' s ultimate concern. God is not a direct Salvationist of mankind .he delivers information to people through Jesus.The human salvation is not a process accomplished in one time, but through human historical development.Mankind can be saved in a new world that God will create.However, Marxists think that human present condition is not produced by estrangement but alienation .The ultimate reason of alienation is too low productivity.People will be relieved from dissident power of social and nature in the future,and this state is called communism. Philosophy and religion are two kinds of forms of the ultimate concern, philosophy is rational, and realizing it depends on the human effort; But religion is not rational, and realizing itdepends on mysterious superpower.
