Poetics Of Desire: A Kind Of Grid Non-fiction Reading

As a typical writer of the Avant-Garde, Gefei shows an intensive inquiring enthusiasm to man's existence and desire. Desire is not merely his persistent attention and repeating theme, but his poetic kernel in novels. The paper tries to interpret his novel texts form the historic structure of desire, the special embodying of desire and the new progress Gefei had made in expressing desire on the base of his writing experience in late 1990's. And the reasons how the desire became the theme of Gefei's novels and has formed the poetic system in his writings are also studied in this paper.The full paper consists of five parts and divides into three chapters mainly, amounts to nine small sections. Content discussed mainly in each part lies as follows:The introduction shows that the writing and focus on desire is an important theme of literature, and it sketches briefly the train of though of development of desire in Chinese literature. Hence, it draws to the observations on the desire theme in Gefei's novels.Chapter one divides into four sections, and analyzes the historic structure of desire from four respects of the desire and penalty, desire and revolution, desire and war, desire and ethics separately from the angle of history (time). It reveals the desire dialectics behind the power of history and desire networks.Chapter two divides into two sections. From the angle of space(Image), it shows the desire operating mechanism covered by daily life in the tow scenes of country and city.Chapter three divides into three sections. It analyzes the changes and characteristics of Gefei in desire expression in late 1990s in the respects of style, value orientation, and form pursuing, and then points out that his late writings are spiritual breakouts from the encirclement of desire discourse in consuming era.The last chapter sums up the paper by pointing out that the writing and focus of desire is not Gefei's novels important theme, but also formed his novels' narrating style and poetic system. In addition, The chapter also points out some shortcomings in Gefei's novels while affirms his achievements.
