With feudality's ending and the transition to democracy, the period from the late Qing to the early times of Minguo is a especially special phase in the Chinese modern history. But it is difficult to eradicate feudalistic ideas. Many clerisies and participators of new civilization movement proposed enlightening people by introducing western ideas and drama, which is the most intuitionistic form, was attached great importance by people in various fields. But Chinese opera is difficult to shoulder the historical important task.Under the impact of western new ideas, clerisies of kte Qing firstly proposed primary theory of Chinese opera's meliorating and put forward their works in abundance. The new civilization movement sparkplug the western ideas of democracy and science, in the case of drama, its tradition was repkced by western realism. After the new civilization movement, a series of practice ultimately couldn't improve drama's station. In late times of the twenties, with new drama's declining and traditional opera's flourish renewedly, many Chinese students abroad began to reconsider the future of Chinese drama.From the traditional and modern players'practice in the above three periods, with the new ideas and improvement, this dissertation analyses drama theory's primary success and failure. |
