The study of temperament in Han Dynasty begins to be firstly recorded in the book of Huai Nan Zi, which is another temperament milestone after Guan Zi and Ltl Shi Chun Qiu. The book become very important to those experts who are studying temperament, but since the words used in this book are hard to understand and also the tone system interacts with chronometer, calendar and philosophy, many experts in tone system overlook its value and do no deep exploration to it. With reference to former research results and with research to the human life and scientific background in the pre-Qin Dynasty, this thesis does a comprehensive research in three aspects, that is, the relationship between temperament and calendar, mathematical temperament and the change of keys. The aim of this thesis is to make a full understanding of the study of temperament in Qin and Han Dynasties. This thesis uses a step-by-step writing skill, and includes five parts. In the first part, the author briefly expounds the philosophy foundation followed by the study of temperament in the book of Huai Nan Zi.In the second part, the author defines the concept of temperament in the book of Huai Nan Zi.In the third part, the author tries to use a comparative method both vertically and horizontally to discuss and solve three problems, that is, why and how the temperament combines with calendar, and what is the nature of this combination. In the fourth part, the author finds out that the reasons that give birth to mathematical temperament have three possibilities, and these three possibilities have an interacting relationship, so at last the author sets up a new finding that the birth of mathematical temperament is based on the practice of Gu Qin, and is during people's pursuit to bell temperament in pre-Qin Dynasty. In the fifth part, the author considers that the right-change of keys is based on the practice of Gu Qin, and the left-change of keys has something to do with using different temperament in different month and Na Yin in pre-Qin Dynasty. All of these really reflect people's worship to the heaven in Han Dynasty.
