Cultivating The Moral Spirit Of Mencius

Mencius is regarded as yasheng. There are different opinions among people as to his theory of "cultivating Qi".Philosophers think it as apriorism while literati view it as personal artistic characteristics. From my personal perspective, I consider it as ethical deposition or social practice. Mencius's "cultivating Qi" is the combination of yanshany and shangyang and the developing course of humane essence. This thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with cultivating Qi. Chapter two addresses the issue of shun's image. In chapter three, I disscuss and elaborate, the evolution of "cultivating Qi".
