Scheler Value Ethics

Max Scheler (1874 - 1928) was a famous philosopher , phenomenologist and the founder of phenomenal ethics of values in Germany in the early 20th century . His ethics of values, which takes the genesis and the influence of western ethics of values as its theoretical background, the critique of Kant' s ethics of formalism as its source, and Husserl' s phenomenological methods as its basis of epistemology, is a scenic horizon in the history of contemporary western ethics .The cornerstone of axiological ethics is the understanding of the specific properties and the levels of values . Value is a kind of innate quality which is independent of the carriers . It can be divided into perceptual value, life value, spiritual value and religious value . The moral value is a kind of practical good. Its main part is the moral personality . Simultaneously, his ethics points out that values cannot be separated from emotions, and also specify the particular function of the understanding of values in the moral life. Thus it becomes the premise of the construction of the order of moral life.Scheler' s ethics of values cannot be ignored in the field of ethics . On one hand, his theories of values, feelings and personality provide approximate framework and even prepare rich materials for Hartman who conceived systematic value phenomenology; On the other hand, from the viewpoint of Marxist ethics, his ethics has its unique points of creationand innovation .Sheler' s ethics of values has important suggestive effect on the development of ethics of values in modern China . When people universally lay stress on the research of theoretical ethics and applied ethics, ethics of values in China should critically study the various phenomena and problems of values in the field of people' s life, human being' s nature and need, and the contemporary situation and the trend of modern society . It should take the realization of human being' s happiness as its aim and provide modern society with general value principles and basic norms of behaviour, and construct systematic theoretical system of values .
