This essay is divided into an introduction and three parts, including eight chapters. The introduction of this essay discusses the cause of selecting the thought of Scheler's person, and analysis simply other's opinions of Scheler's thought. Lastly I introduce the new thinking of my essay. In the first part I mainly discuss the basic content of Scheler's person. This part includes three chapters. The first chapter discusses the phenomenological essence of the person. Phenomenology is applied into the problem of the person, and Scheler put forward the proposition that person is the unity of many different acts. Person is essentially different from body and ego, which acquire individuality only when they belonged to the person. The second chapter discusses the emotional essence of the person. The person is basically an emotional Being, not a rational Being. Ordo Amoris is the core of Scheler' person. This chapter further discusses the relationship of love and ration, love and desire. The third chapter discusses the essence of moral value of the person. Being basic upon non-moral values, moral values is present in the realization of non-moral values. The person and its acts are the carrier of the moral value. This chapter discusses further Scheler's critique of modern ethos in view of his theory of Ressentiment, which is his contribution to the problem of modernity. In the second part I mainly discuss Scheler's thought of personal education. The presence and Being of person is not a natural process, but an outcome of self-education and mutual education. This part is also includes three chapters. The first chapter discusses Scheler's idea of man and education, the idea of man is the basic of education. On his thought of philosophical anthropology he put forward a new ontological meaning of education. The second chapter discusses the idea of knowledge and its educational meaning. Different knowledge has different meaning of personal education, so scientific and technologic knowledge must below to the philosophic educational knowledge and metaphysical-religious knowledge. The third chapter discusses the relationship of personal education and example. This chapter discusses the basic concept of Scheler's example and its five types, which are the model of the becoming of a man or woman. The example has important and irreplaceable role in personal education, but which is more and more forgotten in the modern normative ethics. In the third part I discuss the meaning of Scheler's personalism and the inspiration of ancient educational thought for us. This part includes two chapters. The first chapter discusses the meaning of Scheler's personalism. The meaning of his thought is expressed in two respects. The person firstly is not traditional soul-substance, but an act-being. The person secondly is not a rational Being, but an emotional Being, which transcend that of the rationalism. Scheler's personalism regards the personal value as the highest value, which has the critic meaning for non-personalism. The second chapter discusses ancient educational thought of Greece and our country, including Plato, Aristotle, Confusius and Mencius. This exposition is to disclose the partial contemporary educational thought, and revive the more original and comprehensive educational thought in order to mold more perfect person.
