| This paper can be divided into three parts. The first part is the general introduction of Biluo Stele, including the introduction of the natural condition of the body of Biluo Stele, the book of rubbings and its history. Stress of this part is laid on the analysis of some debating problems: such as the time of the foundation of Biluo Stele, the naming of Biluo, the calligrapher and the style of chirography of the epigraph.The second part is the arrangement and annotation of the characters in the epigraph of Biluo Stele. In this part, the books of rubbings that can be found are compared and explored. The work of exploration and annotation is based on the collection of a variety of books of rubbings; within unite of character and according to the font. Annotation to Books of Han dynasty by Huang Xiquan and Explanation of the Change of Ancient pictographs by Xu Zaiguo are consulted in this part. The characters in the epigraph are put in order carefully. The part of the epigraph that is identical with the seal characters in Explanation of Characters is not discussed, the part that is a little different is explained briefly and the part in which there are much wrong transformation of the type font and in which there are phonetic loan characters is explained emphatically with some annotating mistakes corrected. As for the debating segment of the epigraph, doubt is conserved or the author's opinion is consulted.In the third part of this paper, Biluo Stele is restudied. Through the organization of the epigraph, features of the characters in Biluo Stele can be known again comprehensively. Thus is drawn the conclusion that the epigraph of Biluo Stele is well based and its source is wide and deep. Furthermore, we can have a glimpse of the state of the copy and spread ofancient prose in Tang Dynasty through Biluo Stele. After the body of the paper a diagram of different type fonts for comparison is given, which may provide some convenience for the investigators on study materials. The further arrangement and textual research of the materials may provide some illumination to the investigators, which is also the aim of this thesis paper. |
