The Genus-books of this period lay a foundation for the after ones in compiling situation, assorting system, assorting thought and so on. Taking Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty as the time limit, this thesis researches some questions about Genus-books, who emphasizes on the above aspects.The thesis is composed of the preface, text and addenda, In the preface, it introduces the value of the thesis' selection and the questions required to answer. The text is the main body. In this potions, the standpoints are stated about the characters and the assorting thought of Genus-book; it discusses the causes of formation, compiling traits, types and influences of the earlier Genus-books, and hackles the studying status on Genus-books before; it also analyses the growing causations, compiling traits, compiling concept, assorting system and the reason for disappearing about the Genus-books in Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty; at last, it probes into the headstream, general situation, causes of formation and characters about the assorting thought of Genus-books in Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty.
