Metamorphosis has been studied as a literary theoretical term from a static perspective, or a synchronic perspective in the academic world since the foundation of our country. Plentiful and substantial theoretical achievements have been attained in the field. However, to reach the deeper texture of the study on metamorphosis, it is essential to come closer to the nature of metamorphosis as a dynamic category. The dynamic perspective adopted in previous studies stopped at one point or one stage of metamorphic process and thus ignored the procedural and eventual nature of metamorphosis, which is indeed a dynamic category of inherence, inheritance and chain of cause and effect. The present author attempts to examine the nature of metamorphosis from the dynamic perspective in company with a relatively complete creative writing process. The perspective of literary metamorphosis (mainly about the metamorphosis in literary creation), as a more specific visual field, is expected to be helpful in solving the intertwined problems in artistic metamorphosis. From the intersection of the two perspectives, the present author makes a close and exact description of the process in creating literary metamorphosis, and pays particular attention to the writer's conscious activity which lasts through the whole creating process and has some internal consistency. It reveals that the writer or the subject of the creating process, as a 'field' in creating, has a 'magnetic' impact on many of the subjective and objective factors involved in creating metamorphosis. It also discloses the hidden regularity of literary metamorphosis, the operation of metamorphosing, the 'law' the writers consciously or subconsciously abide by.To study metamorphosis in Literature, it is essential to clarify the concept of metamorphosis which is confusing due to the fact that it has been studied in most confusing ways and the complicated nature of the concept itself. The problem has been explored in part one. The concept of literary metamorphosis has been introduced based on the traditional concept of artistic metamorphosis; thereafter three representative opinions on the concept have been combed, the weaknesses and strengths of which has beenanalyzed; finally comes the author's outlook on metamorphosis. The concept has been divided into two categories, that is metamorphosis in broad sense and metamorphosis in narrow sense, taking the 'the measures of the objective image or the objective logic' as a symbol of the dividing line.In the second part of the thesis, 'literary metamorphosis brewing' has been dwelled on from four perspectives, which concerns about the psychological brewing and preparation of the writer, and other subjective and objective factors which are preconditions and requisitions for creating metamorphosis. Firstly, the occurrence of creating motivation symbolizes the violent change of psychological field effect and the forming of conscious metamorphosis psychological schema. The schema plays a decisive role in metamorphosing the prototype and provides a direction for the subconscious metamorphosis. Secondly, the root of metamorphosing lies in the contradiction between the perceptual images in reality and those representing the writer's artistic externalization of his feeling in his/her psychological schema of creating motivation, that is the contradiction between the prototype and the internal base of metamorphosing. Thirdly, die decisive role of psychological schema on metamorphosis has been introduced from two perspectives. Finally, three pairs of sub-contradictions following the direction of thought, affect, and ideal derived from the contradiction between the prototype and the internal base of metamorphosing have been introduced. The third part of the thesis explores the 'law' abided by in the process of metamorphosing from two dimensions and provides specific approaches in literary metamorphosing. The first dimension is to examine the decisive role of the three pairs of contradictions between prototype literary metamorphoses, which prov...
