Wang Meng has been an active writer. His composition and research related to novels, prose, poetry, scribble, review, research on Dream of the Red Chamber, research on li Shangyin and any other field. He also got attention and debates in the literary world many times because of "New Come Young Man of the Party Organization Department ", "Eastern Stream of Consciousness", "Hide Sublimity" and so on. Wang Meng used to be the leader in the literary world and led our country's development of literary and artistic undertakings. He has been an important and impacting writer, scholar and critic.Novels were important part in Wang Meng's writing; however, the holistic researches on his novels were yet not enough. This dissertation would holistically research on Long Live Youth, Protean Figure, Amorous Season, Gaffe Season, Hesitant and Complacent Season, Carnival Season, Assassination—3322 and Blue Fox these eight novels, in order to study the holistic characteristics of Wang Meng's novels ,combining with the current controversy and blankness in the researches on them.Exordium was about the consequence and current research situation of the novels in Wang Meng's whole composition, to show the value of this dissertation.Main part included discussions on spirit course, character figures and artistic style.The discussion on spirit course mainly stated that the Soviet Union's literature took great effect on Wang Meng's novels. Warmly eulogizing the eternal young situation was the same theme of his many works. Then it would investigate the development of the youth theme. As special experience and given identity made Wang Meng accumulate a lot of stories about China's contemporary revolution and construction, Wang Meng told the revolution and new life which the old generation just like him had experienced, told their spirit courses, and showed the human common knowledge. Moreover, Wang Meng's novels were filled with materialist dialectics, embodying a kind of worldly-wide bright.In the part of character figures, representative roles in each novel were discussed. The significance of Ni Wucheng, Jiang Jingzhen, and revolutionary intellectual, especially Qian Wen was analysed, and the causes which created their fate were sought for.In the discussion on artistic style, Bahktin's poetics of carnival was used to analyse Wang Meng's writing characteristics of carnival, such as coronation, degradation, imitation, parody, and linguistic carnival.In the conclusion, general characteristics of Wang Meng's novels were summarized, such as eternal young situation, dignified historical feeling, deep-felt self-examination of individual fate and history, and carnival artistic style etc. Moreover, several questions about this dissertation were advanced which could be researched continuously.
