Conform To Theory And Social Indicators

The theory of linguistic adaptation by Verschueren presents a new pragmatic perspective for pragmatic research. This paper begins with an introduction to the theory of adaptation and uses the new theory to explain one of the most important issues in pragmatic research, which is social deixis. According to Levinson's definition to social deixis, this paper considers social deixis as the unified definition of person deixis and social deixis. By doing that, the adaptation of social deixis includes adaptation of person deixis and adaptation of attitudinal deixis.
