Language transfer has long been the part and parcel of the studies on the Second Language Acquisition (SLA). And the influence that mother tongue exerts on SLA is constantly a hot issue that concerns most researchers in the field of SLA. On the basis of reviewing the prior researches, this paper examines in retrospect the definition, the misinterpretations as well as some influential views about language transfer. Such issues have been elaborated on in this paper as the manifestations of and constraints on language transfer. This particular paper takes as its focus the systematic study on language transfer, especially on language transfer in the process of English acquisition of students in China, by means of examining various aspects from which language transfer may arise. |
