There is a strongly tendency to indigo blue in Chinese ancient art, literature, language and gloss, as well as conception of indigo blue. The classical theory of colors in China is the view of the nature, of the culture, or of the philosophy. And it is good at watching, interrogate and uniting things according to colors. This article detail the theory and thinking of color in ancient China, integrating with modern philosophy, culture, study on art, visual culture and the phenomenon of language that there are so many analogies about vision, light and color in Chinese. It stressed on unscrambling the conception of indigo blue, in order to bring forward the noumenal study on color of visual art and visual culture, which is ignored by us for so long time.
