Late national philosophy master Mr zhang Dainian thinks there are three aspects that Mencius surpasses his forefathers and other scholars in his period. The first, Mencius puts forward the theory that 'people are the important', the second, the true man's personality standard, the third, and the most noteworthy, is the 'everyone has his own inner value' theory. This theory affirms everyone's own inner value, the value is the talent, the unalienable one. The third is Mencius'inner value theory. There are four parts in this thesis.The first part of the thesis, tells the era background when Mencius' inner value theory forms and also the theoretical foundation. Mencius' inner value theory takes shape under the changes of economic, the wars between states for hegemony and the free atmosphere letting different schools debate in the middle of the warring states period. The 'good nature' theory is its' theoretical foundation, applying a base for his further discussion.The second part of the thesis, this part explains the main contents of Mencius' inner value theory in an all around way. It includes four subparts, the basic meaning, the way to realize one's inner value, the extension of the theory and the function it plays in history.The third part of the thesis, has probed into the essence of Mencius' inner value theory. This part is based on the objective appraisal to the theory. Pointing out that Mencius' inner value theory has reflected the basic principle of humanism and makes a compare between Chinese and western humanism thoughts.The fourth part of the thesis, reveals the nowadays' meaning of Mencius' inner value theory to china's development. In history, Mencius' inner value theory has played a positive role to the development of china's civilization. Today, advocating Mencius' inner value theory is the need to carry forward and cultivate national good spirit, construct harmony society and mould subjective moral personality.
