Amy Tan (1952—) is a famous Chinese American woman writer. Her first novel The Joy Luck Club (1989) caused an immediate sensation after its publication and won the wide acclaim from both readers and critics. The novel describes Chinese American women's hard experiences in American society and exposes the tolerance of suffering and buffering the conflicts they face. They work hard for a multiracial and multicultural society without racism and sexism. With the hastening of the progress of globalization, the multicultural Chinese Americans have been playing a greater role in relations between China and the United States; the East and the West. This paper consists of five parts: the first part is the introduction of the history of the Chinese American literature; the second part introduces the life and major works of Amy Tan, the main content of The Joy Luck Club; the third part (the important part) analyzes the Chinese American mothers' hard experiences when facing the conflicts of race, gender, etc and the Chinese American daughters' amelioration of the conflicts under their mothers' help; the fourth part is that Chinese Americans have been playing a new role in the global village with the development of the communication technology; the fifth part is the conclusion.
